Vintage Toys

What is better than an old rusty Tonka dump truck? More rusty trucks? We saw quite a few vintage toys yesterday at the Magnolia Ridge Antique & Art Gathering in Ridge Spring, South Carolina. It was held at a working farm and it was a beautiful site for such a gathering{more on it in another post}.

This truck is in excellent shape. Can you see a wee tree lashed to it at Christmas?
 I can.

This chippy pink child's chair was not for sale but was on one of the rear porches of the large farm house.

These are a child's vintage rake and hoe. I had to have them and snapped this image with the price still on them. I was tuckered out. Shopping with my buddy Distressed Donna Down Home is not for wimps. She does not move fast but glides effortlessly to the finish line. Lunch at the famous Juniper's was delicious as always.

 I have another friend who has a booth in a antique store that we love there in town. Suddenly Ridge Spring is one of my favorite places to visit.

I will have more on the farm antique sale, beautiful southern house, and outbuildings in upcoming posts.

Rusty Motel Chair

How are y'all doing this Friday? I am super tired but pressing on anyway.  Donna and I found this rusty scalloped motel chair last Saturday at an estate sale. The rusty chair is a little wobbly therefore I am using it as a plant stand.

We had a thunderstorm last night, which I slept through, and that is why the pine trees have rained down upon the deck. I have sanded the chair and waxed it.

I went quickly to two estate sales this morning, then made chicken salad, broccoli salad, and did some gardening. I still have too much to do before Joe arrives but am taking some time to blog. I did not have time to help Fancy clean her house when the golfers left today(seven leave and seven check in-that's crazy). I enjoyed all your comments on the last post I wrote about Fancy renting her house.

Happy Friday

Forsythia Arranged

Good morning friends. I trust you had a good weekend. Joe and I have been relaxing at our yellow house where our forsythia is now blooming. We braved the rain or were idiots {depending on your view} and went to estate sales on Saturday. We bought a rug which has created an enormous snowball effect that I will share later.

The buffet was the logical location for this tall twiggy forsythia. The rusty yet elegant vase was a gift from a stranger at a garage sale.

 Joe is making lemon pancakes and bacon for brunch. Yes, I am spoiled rotten.

Anybody else stunned at Downton Abbey's season finale?
 I could pinch Julian Fellowes but I suppose that is the reaction he is going for.

Rusty Flower Urn

I was given a rusty urn at a garage sale Saturday.
It was given to me because it was dirty. I cleaned the inner glass part easily. Then I went into the garden for some flowers to put in it. I was quick about it as still I do not feel well and I cannot remember the name of the shrub or flower I used. Forgive me.

Perfect rusty Patina

I realize many of the elements on the buffet have merely been reshuffled.
I like them and they are staying.

I am not sure that the entire buffet looks cohesive but this is what we got today my peeps as I am out of energy. I do love this rusty urn, it is my favorite Saturday find and we went to the best garage sale and found many interesting pieces.

Flea Market Finds By Joe

Joe's flea market finds this week are rusty and beautiful.

The toolbox.

The rusty bits.

Joe is going to use the toolbox for it's intended purpose but I could see it on a shelf in our den.
It came full of tools too and I can barely lift it.

The rusty things with hooks are scales and we have no idea what purpose the long handled tool has.
We just like it.
He paid about twenty dollars for all of this including the toolbox.
Joe is in his element when he finds tools to buy.

 ~~~~~~
I will be visiting you, my peeps, later tonight, because I traveled yesterday to Greenville, S.C. to have new tires put on my Mini and I am exhausted. Thank God I was in the Pottery Barn, in the mall, when the dealership called me about an additional issue and gave me the price.
If you are going to nearly swoon a Pottery Barn sofa is the place to do it.
