The buffet was the logical location for this tall twiggy forsythia. The rusty yet elegant vase was a gift from a stranger at a garage sale.
Joe is making lemon pancakes and bacon for brunch. Yes, I am spoiled rotten.
Anybody else stunned at Downton Abbey's season finale?
I could pinch Julian Fellowes but I suppose that is the reaction he is going for.

So sweet and such a blessing to be spoiled rotten! Beautiful blooms and photographs...have a GREAT day!
ReplyDeleteBlessings,
Cindy
I love your last shot..sun through the window....wow....
ReplyDeletecan't wait to hear about the snowball effect project..we just went through that with a newfound rug..LOL
Love,
Mona
I love the simplicity of a few branches of forsythia. It's just enough so as not to over-embellish. xox
ReplyDeleteI stupidly looked up something about Downton Abbey a week or so ago and saw that particular event was going to happen; it had already aired in England. You can't hold Julian responsible, as it turns out. I'm reluctant to say more; some people may not have watched this yet. :)
ReplyDeleteI really like the forsythia branches and I'm trying to remember when I take some inside to force.
Love the vase and snowballing is good.
ReplyDeleteOh, and it was the actor who made that happen. I hated it, too.
ReplyDeleteYour Forsythia is so pretty Olive!... I can't wait for ours to bloom... you are way ahead of us on Spring... your breakfast sounds yummy!... xoxo Julie Marie
ReplyDeleteOhhhhh so very, very pretty! Nothing is blooming here yet so I am completely envious!!!! Enjoy being spoiled....you deserve it :o)
ReplyDeleteHave a great week!

Olive ~ Looking out at SNOW on the ground here in Wisconsin - Hard to believe the beautiful FORSYTHIA is blooming BY YOU!!! And as for Downton Abbey - Sooooo upset with the ending!*!*! We all need a pick-me-up at this time of year ~ and that was sooooo NOT the case with last nite's Season Three Finale...
ReplyDeleteEnjoy your Flowering Branches & Sweet Husband...
Hugs - Jeanine Burkhardt
Oh Downton...you keep me tangled up! Don't you just love the show? I'm telling everyone about it like a nerd. :)
ReplyDeleteYour forsythia is beautiful. Spring is here.
Lucky you! Our forsythia isn't blooming yet. I've never heard of lemon pancakes before. So nice of your husband to make you breakfast "just because". My 11 yr old eats pancakes every morning. They're just the plain kind though. He can afford to gain some weight anyway. LOL!
ReplyDeleteOlive, that is so beautiful! The whole forsythia/buffet vignette is lovely. Inspires me to clean my house. lol
ReplyDeletePoor Julian Fellowes. I think a good portion of the UK and US are mad at him, but alas, when an actor wants out, what's a writer to do. Still, he better come up with something pretty spectacular next season to make us forget that last scene!
1. Your photographs, especially the first ones, are magazine worthy!
ReplyDelete2. LOVE forsythia; sadly, have NONE :(
3. Being spoiled - priceless! You deserve it - enjoy!
4. I purchased seasons 1 and 2 as my birthday present last week; my treat for AFTER the spring cleaning! You can't be anywhere online today and NOT see the ending of season three!
5. As usual, love your blog!
Nancy
Hi Olive. The branches of forsythia are so lovely! And like Nancy said, your snaps are o pretty - always.
ReplyDeleteBe a sweetie,
Shelia :)
I saw a big bundle of Forsythia hanging over a bridge this weekend. The yellow flowers were reflected in the lake below. So pretty!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wonderful vase! I hope you waved back to the pansy faces looking in your window.
ReplyDeleteLove the forsythia...it will be quite awhile before it blooms here...I have to plant one this year! The estate sale you went to sounds wonderful...can't wait to see your rug and the snowball effect! I haven't watched last night's Downton Abbey, so I won't read any of the previous comments trying to avoid spoilers!
ReplyDeleteLovely your rusty vase Olive, and nice to see the fresh yellow flowers of the forsythia. We had that Downton Abbey episode quite a while ago now, but life itself isn't a bed of roses is it?
ReplyDeletelovin that shot of the vignette reflected in the pretty mirror!
ReplyDeletehappy monday to you.
michele
Nothing wrong with being spoiled! I was shocked at the ending of Downton last night and sad, 2 main characters gone now, why couldn't it be ones we do not like!
ReplyDeleteGood Evening Olive, I love forsythia. It usually begins to flower around Easter time, I cut branches and hang faux easter eggs on the branches. They look lovely with the yellow blossom.
ReplyDeleteOh dear, everyone seems very upset with the ending of Downton Abbey, I shall say no more.
Best Wishes
Daphne
I just finished watching it and knew it had to be coming, but I don't want to accept it! Now we wait for the next season... Love Forsythia and it is perfect in that vase. Can't wait to see the snowball effect rug (ser) ! Ann
ReplyDeleteI always loved clipping big long sprigs of Forsythia when I had a hedge of it! It looks like Spring! And yes...all we can talk about today is Downton Abbey. We are still in shock. I am in denial!
ReplyDeleteNothing says spring like flowering trees and that forsythis is so pretty. I am still shocked about the season finale, too. Poor Mary!
ReplyDeleteLove your forsythia~ none blooming here yet! Lemon pancakes sound divine!
ReplyDeletei was very shocked by the ending of Downton Abbey. can't wait to see the next season. i had heard it will not come out until 2014???! what??! boo hoo on that note. enjoy the week. ( :
ReplyDeleteI'm wildly jealous of your forsythia blooms! They are a couple of months off here. Love what you did with them!
ReplyDeleteYay! Your forsythia is blooming...mine's trying to bloom. I think these freeze we had the other day has delayed it. About DA..I was shocked...so what do we have to look forward to next season? Not much, I imagine. :(
ReplyDeleteI've only seen artificial forsythia, never the real deal. Would you show a picture of the plant sometime?
ReplyDeleteI'd accidentally come across an article about "Michael" wanting to leave the show and how he was going to exit ~ but I didn't expect it in this episode. Poor Mary.
Love that vase! and of course nothing screams spring like beautiful forsythia!
ReplyDeleteThe forsythia in that beautiful vase makes a lovely bouquet! I like the picture of it reflected in the mirror. it will be a long time before anything blooms here.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful forsythia! So ready for spring!
ReplyDeleteSo pretty! That vase is wonderful...your whole vignette is awesome! Love the picture with the mirror reflection... stunning! Have a great day!!
ReplyDeleteForsythia already?? Really? Wow, lucky you! Love the wire vase that shows it off even better.
ReplyDeleteMary Alice
Nothing shouts spring like forsythia blooming!
ReplyDeleteOlive, Our forsythia is just starting to bloom, yours is spectacular! Love your mirror too!
ReplyDeleteJody
Absolutely lovely photos of the forsythia.
ReplyDeleteWe woke up to -11F
Sweet hubby!
ReplyDeleteLove that mirror, Olive. I also love the rusty gifted vase with the gorgeous forsythia in it.
Everything is so pretty.
This post made me feel like spring is here. Love forsythia! Am probably the only woman in the world who has not watched Downton Abbey. xo
ReplyDeleteI was upset about Downton. Oh my goodness. Everything was about Matthew. What are we going to do now? You know the write had not choice. The actor had other opportunities. I couldn't believe that Fellows didn't make them sign contracts but I guess he had no idea how absolutely fabulous the viewers would think the show would become.
