Watermelon Beyond Casual

Yellow watermelon served on the patio.

We are beyond casual without plates or napkins.
Only butter knives and a slicing knife.
When we are finished we hose down the table and ourselves.
This is the antithesis of a tablescape.

The image is dark because it was taken at dusk.

Our melon was grown on a farm in Fairfax S.C.
Yellow seedless watermelons are sweet and delicious.

Have you had yellow watermelon?

  11. I have never even heard of a yellow one, let alone eaten one. I did have my first experience with a seedless watermelon and was disappointed that it was not 100% seedless. I guess they couldn't make more watermelons if it truly had no seeds.

  12. Oh yes! Love them. We always eat them the same way, slice and eat. No need for napkins or plates. A simple pleasure!

  15. My watermelon that was on a recent post turned out to be yellow. Didn't know it until we cut into it I wish I had known. It would have been great to cut open and photograph with all the other yellow. Good to be back home and reading all your wonderful post. You inspire me. I've missed you.
