Ridge Antiques Open House

Open House in Ridge Spring, South Carolina, last Sunday, was a wonderful success. 

The street was full of people. 

The town markets the event well. 

 Ridge Antiques, where our two booths are, was busy.

We had a wide assortment of food and wine.

Chocolate wine too. 

The Talented B serves it every year.

 This rusty sleigh of mine sold right away.

Mary Ann's cabinet is the center of the first room and is not for sale I am sad to say.

The primitive farm table the food is on had been sold. 

Mary Ann convinced the young couple to leave it on hold until after Open House.

These images are from our window booth.

 I am totally gone over the chippy blue mantel.

Vintage Handkerchiefs

 

Vintage handkerchiefs

obtained at an estate sale, on Saturday, from the nicest family.

They also gave me free plants.

Notice the delicate cut work on this hankie.

The purple and green on this one is a charming combination.

The cream colored urn came from the same sale. 

I am keeping it.

Gifted Antlers

Antlers and white pumpkins.

 

 

A family member gave us these antlers and we admire their natural texture and form, much as we admire the cute little form of the pumpkin. This is kind of a masculine and feminine mix.

The family member was puzzled as to what we were going to with them. We will send him a link to our blog so he will be puzzled no more. Thanks bunches M.L.

Joe and I picked up the vintage clock two weeks ago at a garage sale for one dollar. 

The color is just right.

The mini white pumpkins, in the cloches, are from the Tuesday Morning store this summer.

Mini White Pumpkins

More little wonky white pumpkins. 

I promised I would tell you a secret about these little darlings.

Guess what?

I bought them last year.

They have been in a bowl in the kitchen or dining room and have no sign of atrophy. 

They were purchased from Publix 's produce department last fall.

The table was photographed last week but I can assure you they look just the same this week.

If you can you might try saving your mini whites for next year.

Saves money this way too!

Magnolia Seed Pods On the Table

You, my dear readers liked my photo of the magnolia seed pod, two posts back.
So Joe and I picked several off one of our trees, at the old house, and took them ,to the yellow house, and plopped them in a bowl.

 This is something that we would not ordinarily do.

We consider the pods a nuisance as we run over them with the lawn mower and they fall all over the lawn and make a big mess.

Now that we have used them as table decor we will do it again.

You readers are very smart.

In this image the seed pods have been in the bowl for forty-eight hours and the pods are drying out so the red seeds are emerging. In the photos below the pods are closed.

Can we say we have slouchy pillows? The striped ones are down and very comfy.

The candle holders are Southern Living Home via The Rusty Gate the store where I consign items.

The bowl is from Willliams Sonoma for seventy-five percent off or we would not buy it. 

The little cloches are both from Goodwill for one dollar each.

Marble coasters were recently found at an estate sale.

Yes, that is a small skull. We were scattering pine straw in the yard this spring and it fell out of one of the bales. Joe started to toss it but I said let's add it to the duck mandible and the scrabble letters. He said "Why not?"

Peeks of the Old House

Do you know what this is?

The aqua glass is an insulator and the metal piece is a grounding rod for the lightning rod on the roof of our house.

Chippy, chippy we are.

If we paint they will surely raise our taxes. *Wink*

White Elephant In Our Garden

We have another elephant in our garden.

The other elephant is on a trellis that you astute readers noted when I posted about the butterfly bush.

His tail is adorable.

He is made out of one piece of wood and has small ears so we think he is from India.

I am thinking about painting him. I know, I paint every seventh odd full moon in a cold month.

He would be better white with a hint of glaze in those little ridges.

He was a thrifty find for seven dollars.
 Not that it rains here anyway much but he will reside under the pergola.
