Painted Bike

It's been done umpteen times.
I still find a painted bike with a basket of flowers charming.
Sometimes, when motivated, Olive can use a spray paint can my lovelies.

I have had this bike for years. I paid $5 at a garage sale for it.
The tricky part was finding the bike basket.
However I have brilliant friends in high high places.

Baskets can be found online on Etsy and eBay but can be a tad pricey.
Vintage bikes left unpainted are equally charming.
One would disappear in our trees though.

Joe and I placed the bike behind our bird feeder.
It can be seen from our kitchen window.
It's all about our view.

Yes, I am going bold with color.
Wait till you see my front door.

Fall: Yellow House Exterior

We have no porch to speak of which is decidedly non southern so two mums, a real pumpkin, and my old concrete pumpkin is the extent of our fall decor for the exterior of the yellow house.  That thick grass is monkey grass (lilirope). We cut it annually in February.

Mr. Smirk, the old concrete pumpkin will make an appearance, every fall,
as long as we can lift him.
He is solid and heavy.

Someone wanted to help her mama.
Outside, outside she's yelling.
Loudly.

Happy Saturday

Southern Fall Porches

For those of you who like big Victorian houses this is a good  example.
These images were taken last fall.

This screened porch is gorgeous and attached to this house.
Please pinch me for not getting a long shot of the house.
I believe I was trying to stay out of the road.

Across the street is this classic facade.
I am partial to these urns.

Magnificent

I have no other images of this house save this one of the lone urn of lavender mums.
Note the lace curtains.

These houses are not in the southern vernacular but are
located in Middle Georgia.
I like them and thought you might enjoy them.
We southerners do like big ole urns though.
If I cannot lift an urn I want to buy it.

In Olive Out news I am having a wee minor surgical procedure tomorrow.
I found out today I will likely need more surgery soon.
There is a life lesson in here. I think it is-never retire at age forty five.

Thanks to all of you for the many comments about CC traveling to South Korea in the last post.

Y'all are the best.
Many of you have emailed and checked on me and I do appreciate your thoughtfulness.

~Two Lessons Learned~

It has been a whirlwind past couple of days.
I have traveled back and forth between
our old house and the yellow house.
I have somehow gotten sick in the process.
 Is it surgery related?
Absolutely.

Two lessons learned.
Do not declare yourself well because then you shall surely be stricken.
Also never say you have no budget left for mums when you have paid big bucks for an olive bucket.
I found these humongous mums at Costco for $9.99.
That works.

Now get yourself to Costco, if you have one, and want mums.
Also never believe an RN when she says she is doing "just fine."

If I felt better I would put this mum in a terracotta planter
 but it is not happening.

happy fall
