Grace Cottage Part Two

Welcome back to the extraordinary Grace Cottage. 

Today you will see the side herb garden, the back yard limelight hydrangea garden, 

the log cabin, and other out buildings. 

 All filled with my friend's brilliant primitive style.

It is a photo heavy post so HANG ON.

Get some ice tea. 

Relax.

The prettiest chicken feeder I have ever seen holds court in the middle of the herb garden.

Behind the fence is the back yard. 

The stone patio area was a recent addition.

She has lots of fun decorating inside and outside these buildings.

I apologize for not catching the hydrangeas in bloom and 

that I was out taking photos in the blasting sun.

In Olive Out news Joe and I have been going to scads of doctors appointments.

 I had an MRI on my shoulder as my Rheumatologist was shocked

 that one had not been done.

 Joe had really bad health news which I cannot go into now. 

We are still mulling his test results over. 

I am one week late with this promised post and am afraid I will be away again this week.
I have Grand Jury duty starting in the morning.
Say a prayer for me that it will not be a long session as I am not feeling as good as usual.

Grace Cottage

Grace Cottage has been lovingly restored by two friends of ours. 

They have filled it with colonial antiques. 

It is brimming with charm, wit, and country inspiration.

Let's look at the exterior and cottage gardens.

The owners are incredibly talented. 

She is a brilliant decorator and gardener.

 He is incredibly skilled at restoration.

They are the nicest people too.

There is a fountain in front and out back.

A star.

The front flower bed details are quite well thought out. 

Y'all know I love the cloche.

Southern Porches

Pink houses always remind me of wedding cakes and this Madison, Georgia

 pink house with it's gingerbread trim is no exception.

The black porch rockers are a good color selection against the pink paint.

Even garages in Madison are noteworthy.

Look at the bench full of skulls.

You can never go wrong with classic white with black shutters. 

This porch has delicate trim details.

The window to the left of that porch. 

The side entrance of the house. 

Notice the landscaping is quite understated. 

This allows the majestic white house to take the spotlight.

Porch House

The "Porch House" in Madison, Georgia.

It has one of the prettiest southern porches. 

 The residents can usually be spotted on the porch. 

And why not?

That is certainly where I would be.

The porch wraps and hugs the Craftsman style house. 

It is furnished in brown outdoor furniture that compliments

 the yellow exterior of the house.

I cannot have a house in Madison but I could 

duplicate this arbor and climbing rose in my garden.

 All the Madison historic houses have gorgeous yards. 

The spring home and garden tour is May1-3. 

I am not advertising for them. 

They do not know me.

Behind the splendid iris bed you can see a picket fence and

 three car garage for the "Porch House"

Southern Fall Porches

For those of you who like big Victorian houses this is a good  example. 

These images were taken last fall.

This screened porch is gorgeous and attached to this house. 

Please pinch me for not getting a long shot of the house. 

I believe I was trying to stay out of the road.

Across the street is this classic facade.

 I am partial to these urns.

Magnificent

I have no other images of this house save this one of the lone urn of lavender mums. 

Note the lace curtains.

 These houses are not in the southern vernacular but are 

located in Middle Georgia.

 I like them and thought you might enjoy them.

We southerners do like big ole urns though.

If I cannot lift an urn I want to buy it.

In Olive Out news I am having a wee minor surgical procedure tomorrow.

 I found out today I will likely need more surgery soon.

 There is a life lesson in here. I think it is-never retire at age forty five.

White Window White Crib

In searching for  my teenage haunts in Murphy, North Carolina Joe and I ran across this house that was having a moving sale. It is part photo studio and the owner was gracious enough to allow me to photograph this beguiling window and crib.

The view is charming. The whole street has houses like this one. I used to visit an old Victorian house  here with my cousins.

All of these items pictured were for sale but were quite expensive.

I did make a few modest purchases but not of the white variety. I bought vintage chicken feeders.
