We came across this set of sixties rattan furniture recently. It is excellent condition. It was in a beach house in Hilton Head, South Carolina. It is chippy and will stay that way. The striped pillows are down filled. All the cushions are slip covered. We removed that large damask covered chaise from the living room and we feel this is a lighter brighter look. It somehow goes with the house. Joe and I think of this house as a cottage. It does have corbels after all.
The petite chandelier, found by brother Bob and SIL Sue, is just right for our narrow entry way. As you have seen I have not gone to an all white palette but added white and softened the look of the living room. Joe likes the pink wool rug. Me, not so much. I see something lighter and less formal in this space. When I run across it I will know.
I will be joining Kathleen for White Wednesday at Faded Charm. Please visit the others for more white goodness.

I love how the light shines on your chair in the first picture. You are right, I think, the pink rug is too formal.
ReplyDeleteNice furniture find, lovin' the chandy!!!
ReplyDeleteI love rattan! The sofa looks excellent in your living room and I agree that a less formal rug would be nice. Have you ever tried Natural Area Rugs? It's a website with great prices and a big selection. Joe may see something he likes, too!

Oh wow, what a gorgeous set! However did you find it, it's perfect! I love the whole room.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that rattan furniture and it does have such a cottage feel...Do you have a Home Goods, they have WONDERFUL rugs for great prices. You don't need a very big one...
ReplyDeleteYour room does have a cottage feel, you are doing a wonderful job...
Hugs, Donna
That rattan does make it lighter and brighter in there. I had forgotten that you had that really cool 3 drawer dresser/chest in the corner. I love the look of it.
ReplyDeleteAnd who doesn't like a chandelier. I have been looking for a small one for my bathroom, but haven't found one I adore yet. And of course my husband thinks it's nutty to put a chandelier in a bathroom.
Every home (cottage or not) looks better in rattan, Olive!!! Enjoy your set!!!!
ReplyDeleteRattan furniture is timeless and the pieces you found look wonderful in your space. I like that you are keeping the "chippy" paint. It really evokes a cottage feel.
ReplyDeleteJane
Your rattan looks to be in excellent condition-what a lucky find!

Wow Olive - what a find(s)! Gorgeous set.
ReplyDeleteHey Sweetie ~
ReplyDeleteYou are such a prolific
blogger, I can't keep
up with you anymore!
But, it's always fun
to catch up when I
can : ) I love this
rattan set! You had
me at "down cushions!"
I'm thinking you could
even make a slip for
the settee for the
cooler months. I'm
thinking sea grass
type rug {ours just
looks like sea grass
but is softer ~ it
was a remnant that I
had bound} but that's
just me....Looking
forward to what you
find!
Happy day,
xx Suzanne
This was a real find, love it in your LR, and with your wall color! Looks so comfy too, makes you want to curl up with a good book and then take a leisurely snooze.
ReplyDeletebig hugs and love,
Debra

Yes I like your rattan set too Olive. I like everything white!
ReplyDeleteOh, what a doozie of a find Olive! I have always loved rattan, it looks great. Okay, that chandelier is just awesome, everything looks fabulous!
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Nancy
Nice! I really like the rattan find! Your rug is also beautiful! To answer your question about my many cloches....TJ Maxx, Marshalls, Arhaus Furniture, Pier One, Goodwill, Tuesday Morning. I don't think any of them cost more than $20.00 most were in the $10-$15 range, with a few free - $5.00! I started the collecting thing young, and ran an antiques mall for some time--very easy to acquire many things cheaply and quickly!
ReplyDeleteMiss Olive you did good!
ReplyDeleteI am ready to take a nap.
Isn't that fun when you find something that great?

What a sweet update! :)

I love the new look, Olive..your home is charming! All your loving touches make it so special. I could see the living room with a sisal or seagrass rug come Spring..or something that picks up the blue in your cushions.
ReplyDeleteIt's such fun incorporating our newest finds, isn't it...:) Thanks for stopping by my site to visit!
